Recommended places in the city to shop at include Chinatown, Southgate, Lonsdale Street (Greek Precinct), Collins Place and Melbourne Central.

The major department stores are Myer and David Jones Stores, located in the Bourke Street Mall, and Daimaru which is located in Melbourne Central.

There are a few discount stores which sell some excellent bargains. Major discount stores include The Reject Shop and The $2.00 Shop.

The Queen Victona Market is an extremely popular place to shop, or to just browse around and enjoy the bustling atmosphere. k is quite a large market and it sells meat, fish, deli, fruit and vegetables. In ~~ddition, there are over 1000 stalls that sell a wide range of goods such as clothing, footwear, arts/crafts, car accessories, domestic hardware, kitchenware, plants, pets, music tapcs/CDs, Australian souvenirs, bedspreads, rugs and so much more.

The South Melbourne Market is basically a smaller version of the Queen Victoria Market.

On Sundays there are a few Sunday Crafts Markets which are open and sell many arts/crafts. The hours are from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.

In Melbourne there are numerous places to "eat out" or "wine and dine", such as restaurants, cafes, bistros, markets, foodcourts, takeaway's, fast food outlets, delicatessens, brasseries, all you can eat places rnd outdoor cafes. Typical takeaways include: pizza shops, lish n' chips shops, souvlaki bars, Chinese, chicken machines, bakery/pastry goods, vegetarian, sandwich shops and hot dog stands.
